Water rainbow! 🌈

For this experiment we will need the following materials: five transparent cups, water, food colorants (red, blue and yellow) and paper towels. We start by putting the cups in a line, then we add water to fill half the cup in the first, third and fifth cups. Later we put 3 drops of food colorant in each cup: red in the first one, yellow in the third one and blue in the fifth one. Then we grab four pieces of paper towel and we fold them longitudinally three times. Later we put the ends of the folded papers in the cups: one with two, two with three, three with four and four with five. After twelve to twenty-four hours the second cup will have orange water and the fourth green. This is because the colored water traveled through the papers and got mixed.

Para este experimento se necesitan los siguientes materiales: cinco vasos transparentes, agua, colorante comestible (rojo, azul y amarillo) y papel absorbente. Comenzamos poniendo los vasos en una línea, luego servimos el agua hasta la mitad del primero, tercero y quinto. Después ponemos 3 gotas de colorante en los vasos con agua: rojo en el primero, amarillo en el tercero y azul en el quinto. Luego agarramos cuatro pedazos de papel absorbente y lo doblamos longitudinalmente tres veces. Después ponemos las puntas de los papeles en los vasos: uno con dos, dos con tres, tres con cuatro y cuatro con cinco. Luego de doce a veinticuatro horas el segundo vaso va a tener agua naranja y el cuarto verde. Esto pasa porque el agua coloreada pasa por el papel y se mezcla.

Pour cet experiment on a besoin des matériaux suivants: cinque verres transparents, d’eau, du colorant comestible (rouge, blue at jaune) et serviettes en papier. On commence par mettre les cinq verres en une ligne, et après on met l’eau jusqu'à la moitié dans le premier troisième et cinquième. Suivent ont met trois goutes de colorant dans les verres avec eau (rouge dans dans le premier, jaune dans le troisieme et blue dans le cinquieme. Après on prend quatre morceaux de serviettes en papier et on les plie longitudinalement trois fois. Suivent on met les bout du papier dans les verres: le premier avec le second, le second avec le troisième, le troisième avec le quatrième et le quatrième avec le cinquième. Après de 12-24 heures le second va être rempli à moitié avec orange et le quatrième avec vert. Ça se passe car l’eau colorée traverse le papier et se mélange.
